Professor A. Eleftheriou

The Marine Ecology Laboratory is run by Professor A. Eleftheriou, who has been Professor in the Department of Biology, University of Crete since 1985.

Degrees:
B.Sc., Zoology, University of Aberdeen.
Ph.D., Marine Biology, University of Aberdeen.

Posts held:
1964 - 1985 Principal Scientific Officer, Marine Laboratory, Aberdeen, Scotland. 1985 to date Professor of Marine Biology at the University of Crete, Greece.
1987 to 1998 Director of the Institute of Marine Biology of Crete, Greece (IMBC).

1971 - 1981: consultancies: Royal Society (UK) International Biology Programme, India; W.H.O. ( Environmental Pollution Control Project Athens);

1981 - 1986: UNESCO(Biological Oceanography in Athens, Greece)
Founder /Chairman of the North Sea Benthos Working Group ICES.
