Last year, the Marine Ecology Laboratory hosted two student exchanges, Kierstin Rieder and Katrin Stobbe, from the university of Roctock, Germany.

The University of Rostock (eastern part of Germany, Baltic Sea) offers their students some interesting possibilities and one of these concerns the exchange with the ERASMUS-programme to other countries and universities. Since October 1999 I have been working in the Department of Biology in the lab of Marine Ecology of the University of Crete (Iraklio) and because of the excellent supervising I am able to do my diploma-work here. I investigate the population dynamics of nematodes during a period of around 6 months at a sandy beach and I will stay probably until the end of the summer 2000.
